University Workers Protest Non-Payment of Salary in Kogi, Accuse VC of Highhandedness

Senior Staff Association of the Federal University, Lokoja has accused the Vice-Chancellor, professor Angela Freeman Miri of deliberately withholding their salaries and duty allowances.

The workers staged a protest against the management on Monday in Lokoja, bringing academic activities in the institution to a halt.

The protest on the campus of the eight-year-old institution coincided with the commencement of the indefinite strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU) which commenced on Monday nationwide.

In the melee that followed, the protesting workers attempted to break into the VC’s office when reports went around that she may be in her office and not ready to address them.
